February 3, 2016 : New Delhi: General Motors today revealed more details of it's transformation strategy for India by announcing the 2017 launch of an all-new four door notchback, The Chevrolet Essentia, at the 2016 Auto Expo in New Delhi. Essentia is a sub 4 meter car based on Beat platform with seating capacity of 5 people and big enough boot to carry weekend luggage.
GM also took the opportunity to showcase a fun and spirited soft-roader concept based on the same platform called the Chevrolet Beat Active. The car is a fun and spirited concept that has been designed to stand out from the crowd. As a soft-roader, the Beat Active is ready for any adventure or challenge. With expressive design language and significant attention to detail, this youthful car is a response to India's maturing market and aspirational lifestyle. In the concept, Beat has received new front facia including new headlamp design with DRL's and projectors. Fog lamps also received ample LED inclusion. Front and rear bumpers have been designed keeping the fun quotient in mind
The other cars showcased were: Chevrolet Spin, Trailblazer, New Chevrolet Cruze and trailblazer pickup. All these products have been introduced to further push the Chevrolet brand as a serious player in Indian automobile market.
Going forward all cars will share the new Chevrolet design language including the split front grill design. Looking at the declining sales, all products have been refreshed to give them the much needed push, which again looks half hearted attempt. Their new offerings like Spin was ignored by viewers. Trailblazer being their newest offering was not given much attention. The premium SUV should have displayed boldly. The only thing pulling the crowd towards Chevrolet pavilion with two iconic cars - Chevrolet Camaro and Corvette.
